Gandhi Museum - Madurai

                    The Gandhi Museum of Madurai was established in the loving memory of the Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation. It holds great historical importance and was set up by the Gandhi Memorial Trust after the assassination of Bapu in 1948. The museum has been set up in the Palace of Rani Mangammal of Nayak Dynasty. The palace was donated by the Tamil Nadu Government to the trust in 1955, to commemorate the contribution of Gandhi to India.

Chennai Central Prison

        Chennai Central Prison was one of the oldest prisons in India. It was located in Chennai in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It began operational during the British rule in India in 1837. Prisoners from the prison were moved to the newly constructed Puzhal Central Prison starting from 2006. The prison was 172 years old when it began to be demolished in June 2009.

Thiruchendur

Click here for photos This temple is the second of the Arupadai Vedu(six abodes) of Lord Muruga. Senthil Aandavar with Valli and Deivayanai temple is popular here and managed by Government of Tamilnadu.Formerly it is known as "Kapadapuram". Muruga killed Surapadman, a demon, in this place. Soorasamharam, an enactment of the deed, is performed here and Skanda Sashti is also celebrated in commemoration of the same. Using his spear Muruga created the Naazhi Kinaru.
